This could be described as the vegetarian equivalent of a meat loaf. It's warm, comforting and extremely flavoursome. Savoury tofu can also be served cold with salad the next day.
Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius.
Cut the tofu into 1cm slices and brush with the olive oil. Bake on an oven tray for 20-30 minutes until golden brown.
Puree the garlic, ginger, water and tamari and basil in a blender or food processor.
Marinate the baked tofu in the mixture for up to 1 hour.
Drain the tofu and return to the oven for 10 minutes then turn the slices and bake for a further 10 minutes.
Serve with the stir-fried Asian greens.
