Free Healthy Recipe - Spicy Berries with Yoghurt

Gluten free, Low fat, Wheat Free

It might seem unusual adding chilli to fresh berries but the contrast of sweet, spicy, cooling and refreshing all at the same time is excellent.
With berries pumped full of antioxidants, Vitamin K and magnesium, dark chocolate for feel good phenols and chilli to boost the metabolism it's a deliciously healthy way to close the evening meal.
Frozen berries can be used if costs prohibit using fresh. Defrost before marinating them in the maple syrup mix.

Ingredients
250 ml water
¼ cup maple syrup
1 vanilla pod split with seeds scraped out
½ cup mint leaves, roughly chopped
¼ cup basil leaves, roughly chopped
350 grams mixed berries
200 grams strawberries
35 grams dark chocolate
Method

Heat the water in a pan with the maple syrup and vanilla pod and bring to the boil. Place the herbs in a piece of muslin and tie around with string to make a bag. Drop the bag into the water with the chilli. Set aside to cool to room temperature. Pour the mixture over the frozen berries in a container and refrigerate for a few hours.

Add the strawberries one 1 hour before serving. Serve with yoghurt and grated dark chocolate.

Note: Dark chocolate eaten in moderate quantities three times a month is believed to help reduce high blood pressure and risk of blood clotting.
