Frozen, pre rolled pastry is likely to contain trans fats, known to reduce levels of protective (HDL) cholesterol while increasing levels of harmful (LDL) cholesterol.
Making your own is easy - with the aid of a food processor - you control the choice of fat and flour, and it tastes better too.
Pre heat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius.
Place the flours, seasoning, omega spread and poppy seeds in a food processor. Process until well combined. Slowly add the iced water while the processor is still on until the dough is stiff enough to form a ball. Place the dough in the fridge for 20 - 25 minutes before rolling out.
Cook for 20 - 25 minutes.
Note: Poppy seeds may increase the activity of the enzyme glutathione-S-transferase (GST) believed to suppress carcinogens and protect the body from the risk of cancer.
