Indian chai is spiced sweet tea now becoming increasingly popular around the world. To meet the emerging demand there are some instant Chai teas available in packets - just add water! Do take time to read the list of laboratory ingredients and then put the packet back resolving at all times to make your own. No instant alternative can match traditional chai for its soothing effect. The spices make it a natural digestive aid and give you a wonderful sense of well being.
Add the spices and water to a pan and bring to the boil. Reduce the heat to simmer for 5 minutes. Remove from the heat and allow to steep for 10 minutes. Strain the spices through a fine sieve and return the liquid to the pan.
Add the black tea to the pan. Over a medium heat, bring the tea back to boil. Simmer for a further 5 minutes. Add the honey and milk and serve.
