Finger Limes are native to Australia and were a valuable food source to indigenous Australians for thousands of years before white man settled and destroyed most of the native bushes. The fruit was eaten for its delicious taste and applied as an antiseptic to infected sores and boils. Finger limes grow mainly in the rainforests of the border ranges of SE Queensland and Northern NSW. They come in a variety of shapes and colours, such as green, yellow, purple, pink and bright red. When sliced open, it reveals 'caviar like' pearls with a citrusy flavour. They are now sought after by Australian and International chefs.
