Chickory (Belgian endive)
The Americans call this pale, yellow, torpedo-shaped lettuce 'endive'. The leaves are tightly packed - pale yellow or white in colour. More robust in texture that other salad greens, chickory is slightly bitter in taste, but crisp in texture.
