Jasmine rice is a long-grain rice from Thailand. It is a cheaper substitute for basmati rice with a lighter more delicate aroma. Available as white or brown - brown is more nutritious. Jasmine rice takes less time to cook than basmati.
Buy from Asian stores or supermarkets.
Store in airtight containers in a cool place for up to three months, or longer in the fridge. Store in the fridge in the summer - to protect against weevil infestation.
